Psychological Check-In

10 Reflective Questions

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

This course is designed for those with a basic understanding of The Chimp Model. If you are new to it, we recommend starting with the Introducing The Chimp Model course before you begin.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

This short course is designed to give you a quick check on how your mind is operating using The Chimp Model.

Professor Steve Peters introduces ten simple questions that are quick to answer and can be surprisingly revealing. The questions are based on the neuroscience of the mind, and are best understood when you can distinguish between yourself, your Chimp, and your Computer.

There is also a twist to this course. After completing the questions, Steve explains what they are really assessing and how to interpret your answers in a more helpful way.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

These questions are designed to help you apply The Chimp Model to your own thinking, emotions, and behaviours. The aim is not to judge your answers, but to reflect on how your mind is operating and where you may want to focus your attention.

Use a simple set of questions to step back and consider how you are currently thinking, feeling, and behaving. This can help you begin to notice patterns that may otherwise go unchecked.

At first, the questions may appear straightforward. However, as you go through the explanation, you’ll begin to see that they are designed to reveal something deeper about how your mind operates.

You’ll be introduced to the idea that many of your responses are driven by the Chimp or the Computer, rather than you as a person. This distinction is key to understanding how to manage your mind more effectively.

Your answers can highlight areas where your mind may need more support or development. This helps you identify where building emotional skills could improve your quality of life.
