Your Life Force
What is life all about?
ABOUT THIS COURSE
The Life Force is Professor Steve Peters’ way of describing what you believe life is really all about, with reference to yourself. In this course, Steve explains how understanding your Life Force can provide greater perspective, direction, and purpose, helping you focus your time and energy on what matters most.
Drawing on his experience of working with people at the end of life, Steve explores the common reflections and regrets people often express and explains why we do not need to wait until later in life to gain this perspective. He introduces practical ways to identify your own Life Force and explains how understanding the Human, Chimp, and Computer can help you live in line with it.
The focus of this course is on reflecting on what is truly important to you, creating practical ways to live according to those priorities, and regularly realigning your life with the person you want to be.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
This course explores the Life Force and how it can provide perspective, direction, and purpose. The focus is on identifying what matters most to you and learning how to align your thoughts, behaviours, and decisions with the life you want to live.
Drawing on experiences from his clinical work, Steve explains why many people gain perspective towards the end of life. The course explores how reflecting now can help provide greater clarity and reduce future regrets.
Identifying what is important is only the first step. Steve explains why understanding your mind and learning to manage your Human, Chimp, and Computer are essential if you want to live according to your Life Force.
Looking back can become unhelpful if it leads to guilt or regret. Steve explains how hindsight is most valuable when it helps us learn from previous decisions rather than condemn ourselves for them.
The course introduces the brain’s “What If” button and explains how it can either fuel the Chimp’s worries or help the Human think through consequences, create plans, and make better decisions.
Steve explains why the Life Force is not something you define once and forget. Regular reflection helps ensure your time, energy, and attention remain focused on the person you want to be and the life you want to live.
