Hormones

Navigate their Influence

ABOUT THIS COURSE

Hormones can strongly influence how we feel, think and behave, sometimes without our awareness. These natural changes are not necessarily signs of illness or dysfunction, but they can be difficult to navigate.

In this course, Professor Steve Peters explores how hormones affect the mind. Using falling in in love as an example, he explains how they can create urgency, excitement, attachment and changes in judgement.

Steve introduces some of the main chemicals involved while explaining that their effects can differ between individuals.

You’ll learn how to recognise a physiological hijack and use the Stone of Life of Life to help manage its influence.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

This course explores how hormones can influence the mind, why their effects differ between individuals and how you can manage the emotions they create.

Steve explains how natural changes in hormones can affect your mood, energy, thinking and behaviour without being a sign of illness or dysfunction.

Hormonal activity can influence the mind without your permission. The course explores how recognising this can help you avoid automatically engaging with the emotions you experience.

Using falling in love as an example, Steve explores how hormones and neurotransmitters can create urgency, excitement, disrupted concentration, attachment and changes in judgement.

Steve introduces the roles of cortisol, serotonin, adrenaline, noradrenaline, dopamine, oxytocin, vasopressin and testosterone, explaining how they work together to influence attraction and bonding.

Hormones follow recognisable patterns, but their levels and effects vary between people. Steve explains how your thinking, experiences and beliefs can also influence the way you respond.

The course explores how the Stone of Life can bring perspective, values, truth and reality into your thinking, helping you navigate hormonal changes and manage the emotions they produce.
